Camera movement and editing

    CAMERA MOVEMENT AND EDITING

1) Pick three aspects of camera movement in the Minority Report clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience.

The camera movement at the beginning of the scene is slow and focused on the newspaper where the heading keeps on changing and the reader is seen reading a heading about a passenger on the train seated in front of him and realizes that he is WANTED at 0.29 second the use of juxtaposition and zoom camera movement is used where the focus is on the newspaper and makes the audience feel confused although interested on what will happen to the character and why he is wanted and may think that something isn't right.

At 0.43 seconds the Wanted character realizes that the passenger has noticed him so he exports himself out of the train at the next stop and making his way to the exit however at 0.50 handheld camera technique  is used where tension is built when the SWAT team is noticed the direction of the wanted character changed and panic starts between the swat team and wanted character when he rapidly switched his direction and starting to run to escape where a cut is made and the wanted character is seen running so the swat team react get their weapons ready and chase him down.

At 1.08 SWAT team is seen using their jet-packs to transfer from one place to another and chase him The camera shot used is drone shot where the camera captures the swat team flying on their jetpacks and the swats surround the criminal but it doesn't end well as he acts like he is going to surrender. At 1.36 zoom shot is used to capture the facial expression of the criminal and at 1.51 track dolly shot is used where they capture a shot from behind the fence where the character is seen moving back from the police/swat when they try using the sick stick so he throws up but it is back flashed at them and the criminal is seen forcing it on the swat member where he succeeds and forces it on the team members neck.

2) Analyse the editing:

The pace of editing is increased as soon as the swat member is attacked with the sick stick where action and tension is built and intrigue the audience where many camera shots are used at 2.16 drone shot is used where the criminal climbs up the wall to escape. This tells the audience that the criminal has done something seriously dangerous that's why he is doing everything to escape from the swats.

Camera shots
At 0:00 second extreme close up is used to shoe the train cameras where the criminal is captured and the swat team are informed and immediately make their way to the next train stop.

At 0:20 over the shoulder shot is used where the criminal is seen hiding his face when a newspaper reader has noticed that the wanted criminal is travelling along with him when the criminal sees that he has been noticed he decides to export himself out of the train and make a getaway before getting caught.
